If you come across an animal in distress, don’t hesitate to report the situation to a local animal association. A simple WhatsApp message from us can sometimes make a real difference for an animal that needs veterinary care and doesn’t ask for anything in return. Thanks to this small act, the main character of this story, an adult hunting dog, was rescued from great suffering.
Indeed, it only took a quick SMS report to ensure that the poor animal could start living the life it deserved. The person who contacted Pawtcake demonstrated exemplary behavior by choosing not to turn a blind eye to a malnourished and sick creature. As soon as the report was received, volunteers from the animal protection shelter reached the indicated location. It was a building under construction, completely empty, and therefore devoid of food and shelter.
The hound was visibly malnourished as it had no access to food and water. However, what caught our attention was the enormous mass hanging from its neck – a tumor weighing at least 12 kilograms. It is unclear how long the dog had been carrying this tumor, but it undoubtedly made survival incredibly difficult. Additionally, the poor animal seemed extremely frightened, to the point where it would hide behind construction slabs.
Despite his fear, the volunteers managed to take him to the veterinary clinic. The first priority was to remove the massive tumor. With great courage, the animal underwent the surgery, which was successful thanks to his patience and fighting spirit. Without that major obstacle hindering even the most basic actions, the hound is now a lively dog once again. All that’s left is to find him a loving home where he can finally feel safe!
